New List of Open Actions : New Action Item 201104-1: ASO AC to update the policy slide deck, which will be published towards the end of the year, once the five RIRs have held their meetings. New Action Item 201104-2: HC to circulate the Draft 2020 ASO AC Work Plan Activity Review before the December teleconference. New Action Item 201104-3: MS to circulate the draft 2021 ASO AC Work Plan before the December Teleconference for finalization in January when the new ASO AC is in place. New Action Item 201104-4: AS to circulate the draft Annual Transparency Review before the December Teleconference. New Action Item 201104-5: AS to resend the original work plan that the ASO AC had prepared for the f2f meeting in Cancun for all to analyze, set priorities and decide the number of days/hours needed for the virtual meeting that will replace the f2f meeting. New Action Item 201104-6: AS to send a note to the NRO EC stating that, because the Cancun ICANN meeting will most likely be held online, the ASO AC will not be meeting f2f in Cancun, adding that the ASO AC plans to analyze whether it is possible to meet f2f later in the year. LACNIC 34 The event was conducted online from Oct 2nd until 9th. Starting with tutorials about IPv6, secure routing, DNSSEC, resources administration and network interconnection. It was a jointly event with LACNOG that celebrated its 10th anniversary. There were 1500 persons registered and about 700 attended the sessions during the week. There was a keynote section with KC Claffy about Internet measurements and how it can help to build a better Internet. Regarding policy discussions, five proposals were presented and discussed during the Public Forum: - LAC-2019-7 PDP moderators election process - LAC-2020-8 short descriptor as a policy proposal identifier - LAC-2020-3 proposal impact analysis obligatory - LAC-2020-5 proposal adoption for discussion in the PDP - LAC-2020-7 PDP modification for an improved participation in the PDP The above proposal are still in discussion phase, except LAC-2019-7 that is now in consensus verification by the moderators and it is expected to have its results presented in the following week. The next LACNIC meeting, number 35, was announced to be held in Veracruz/Mexico from May 10th to 14th 2021, if travels are possible at that time. If not, it will online as past events.

The data is inaccurate, privacy advocates think it discloses -- or used to disclose -- too much personal information, public safety agencies, intellectual property attorneys and others are unhappy with GDPR and similar privacy laws, and it's an unwelcome burden and expense for the registrars and registries. Multiple policy development attempts spanning roughly two decades have all been unsatisfactory. A small group of us has developed a framework and model to enable a new approach for expressing, comparing and analyzing possible policies. In this talk I will present the basic elements of the model and the tools. The goal is to enable the collectors (registrars and registries), the requesters (law enforcement, security researchers, intellectual property attorneys, domainers, et al.) and policy authorities (governments, ICANN, et al.) to engage in more precise and focused policy discussions in the future. Dr. Steve Crocker Dr. Crocker is CEO and co-founder of Shinkuro, Inc., a start-up company focused on dynamic sharing of information across the Internet and the deployment of improved security protocols. Dr. Crocker has been involved in the Internet since its inception. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, while he was a graduate student at UCLA, he was part of the team that developed the protocols for the ARPANET and laid the foundation for today's Internet. He organized the Network Working Group, which was the forerunner of the modern Internet Engineering Task Force and initiated the Request for Comment (RFC) series of notes through which protocol designs are documented and shared. For this work, Dr. Crocker was awarded the 2002 IEEE Internet Award. Starting in 2002, Dr. Crocker served as founding chair of the Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC) of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

lacnic runs out of ipv4

Hi, hope you are all doing well. Just to inform that today (Aug. 19th in our timezone), LACNIC announced that it exhausted its IPv4 free pool. Since Dec 2017, allocations were according the a soft landing policy. Only one allocation of /22 per organization. No additional allocation were allowed. For this period, there were about 5.6 million IPv4 addresses to be distributed. Regards, Ricardo
