FW: Message from your NomCom appointee: brief update
Dear ASO AC By request of Pablo Hinojosa, ASO appointment to the ICANN Nomcom, I’m relaying this report to you. Regards Germán Valdez -- From: Pablo Hinojosa <pablohinojosa@pm.me> Date: Friday, 29 May 2026 at 5:37 pm To: herve.clement@orange.com <herve.clement@orange.com>; German Valdez Aviles <german@apnic.net>; Esteban Lescano <esteban@lescano-etcheverry.com.ar> Subject: Message from your NomCom appointee: brief update Dear Hervé, Esteban and Germán, Please help me to pass this message to the ASO-AC members. I am writing with sadness following the recent passing of Alan and Arinola, two very esteemed members of our community. Their contributions should remain in our future work. I also wanted to share an update on the progress of the NomCom. Tom Barrett recently published a blog post that adds transparency to where we stand: https://www.icann.org/en/blogs/details/the-2026-icann-nominating-committee-t... The 2026 NomCom received 223 applications for 7 positions. We had two rounds of shortlisting and 47 in-depth interviews between April and early May. The pool has been narrowed to the top candidates for PTI and the ICANN Boards and we will proceed to face-to-face interviews at ICANN86 in Seville. Appointments for the ccNSO Council, GNSO Council, and ALAC regional seats have also been finalised. Looking ahead, we may need to avoid any unintended overlap between processes, particularly as the ASO-AC will consider an extraordinary appointment for Seat 9 following Alan's passing. If there is any need for coordination with the NomCom, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you again for your trust in me. Recent events remind me that life is too short and that our time as colleagues should not be taken for granted. I look forward to hopefully catching up in Seville in person. Best regards, Pablo P.S. Kevin suggested in Mumbai that I keep a record of the time commitment involved in serving on the NomCom. Attached is the latest version of that timelog for reference.
