Subject: Notification of Introduction of Global Policy Proposal: Global policy proposal for the allocation of IPv4 blocks to Regional Internet Registries
Dear Chairs,
In accordance to the procedures of the ICANN ASO Address Council and the ASO MoU, I am writing to notify the Chairs of the other ICANN Supporting Organizations and the Chairs of the ICANN Advisory Committees that a global policy proposal has been introduced. Within the ASO context as defined by the MoU, global policies are Internet number resource policies that have the agreement of all Regional Internet Registries according to their policy development processes and ICANN, and require specific actions or outcomes on the part of IANA or any other external ICANN-related body in order to be implemented.
The global policy proposal that has been introduced is titled:
Global policy proposal for the allocation of IPv4 blocks to Regional Internet Registries
and it concerns:
1. Recovery of IPv4 address space 2. Allocation of recovered IPv4 address space by the IANA
This global policy proposal is being discussed in the Regional Internet Registries' policy fora. On behalf of the ASO Address Council, I encourage participation by your constituents in the RIRs' policy fora via avenues available to any interested party in every geographic region:
- Onsite and online/remote participation at public policy meetings - Public policy discussion mailing lists
Details on the RIRs' public policy meetings and mailing lists are provided below.
Questions or concerns regarding this notification may be directed to the NRO Secretariat via email at secretariat@nro.net.
Best regards, Louis Lee Chair, ICANN ASO Address Council http://aso.icann.org/
