ASO AC Call for Nominations for Seat 9 on the ICANN Board

Consistent with the ASO Memorandum of Understanding and ICANN Bylaws, the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) calls for nominations for Seat Number 9 on the ICANN Board of Directors. Nominations will close at 23:59 UTC on Wednesday, 31 December 2014. The time frame for the selection process is as follows: - Nomination Phase 24 October 2014 to 31 December 2015 - Comment Phase 1 January 2015 to 31 March 2015 - Interview Phase 1 February 2015 to 31 March 2015 - Selection Process 1 April 2015 to 17 April 2015 - Due Diligence Review 18 April 2015 to 31 May 2015 - Announcement no later than 1 June 2015 The ICANN Bylaws state that no two directors selected by a Supporting Organization can come from the same Geographic Region. Because the ASO AC selection for Seat 10 is from the APNIC region, nominees for Seat 9 cannot also come from this region. All candidates must sign a Letter of Certification declaring that they are of good character. The selected candidate will undergo an independent due diligence review by an ICANN contractor, and announcement of the candidate will follow once this review has been successfully completed. Consistent with the ASO Memorandum of Understanding and ICANN Bylaws, the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) is responsible for the appointment of a representative to serve on Seat Number 10 of the ICANN Board. The ASO AC is pleased to announce the following five candidates for its upcoming appointment. The Candidates are: - Hago Dafalla - Charles Daniel Otine - Edwin Martin Salazar Vega - Kuo Wei Wu - Hassan Zaheer In accordance with the ASO AC election procedures, a comment period is now open. ICANN GPP-IPv4-2011 Implementation Comment Period

ICANN has announced a Public Comment Period relating to the implementation of GPP-IPv4-2011: Global Policy Proposal for Post Exhaustion IPv4 Allocation Mechanisms by the IANA. The ICANN Board announced ratification of GPP-IPv4-2011 on 17 May 2012. The proposal had reached consensus in all Regional Internet Registry (RIR) regions and was reviewed by the NRO EC and the ASO AC prior to transmission to the ICANN Board on 13 March 2012. The policy provides a mechanism for the redistribution of IPv4 address space returned to an IANA-managed pool. Once active, address space in this Recovered IPv4 Pool can be allocated, in equal shares, to the five RIRs. The IANA reports that the RIRs have so far returned approximately 1¼ of /8s of address space in almost 150 prefixes. The Comment Period will remain open until 23:59 (UTC) 25 October 2012. The purpose of this consultation is to gather input on the most appropriate way to make these changes for the different users of the IANA IPv4 address registries. Consistent with the ASO Memorandum of Understanding and ICANN Bylaws Article VI Section 8.1.e and 8.4, the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) calls for nominations for Seat Number 10 on the ICANN Board. The full time frame for the selection process will be announced by the ASO AC after its September meeting. For ongoing information and notices about the selection process please visit: http://aso.icann.org/people/icann-board-elections/2013-elections According to ASO AC Operating Procedures, the nomination period will be open for at least 60 calendar days. Based on this, the nomination period will close at 23:59 UTC on 19 October 2012, pending ASO AC ratification of selection process timeline. All candidates must sign a Letter of Certification detailing previous conduct and character. The ASO Secretariat will send this letter to each applicant along with instructions on what to do next. We are unable to consider candidates who fail to follow these instructions. Additionally, the elected candidate will be subject to an independent due diligence review conducted by an ICANN provided contractor (election procedures section 7.4.9). This review is similar to those performed with all ICANN Board selected candidates. Announcement of the winner will follow the successful review report. The ASO AC election procedures are found in Section 7 of the ASO AC Operating Procedures and are available on the ASO website at: http://aso.icann.org/documents/operating-procedures-aso-ac Article VI of the ICANN Bylaws states that: “At any given time, no two Directors selected by a Supporting Organization shall be citizens from the same country or of countries located in the same Geographic Region.” The ASO AC selection for Seat 9 of the ICANN Board of Directors resides in the ARIN region, so nominees for Seat 10 cannot come from that region. Global IPv6 Deployment Survey now closed.

Dear Colleagues, The 2012 Global IPv6 Deployment Survey is now closed. Thanks to the 1,444 participants in this year's survey! The purpose of the survey is to better understand where the community is moving, and what can be done to ensure the Internet community is ready and moving toward widespread adoption of IPv6. The findings from the 2012 survey will be compared to previous years to give a perspective on regional and global progress. ITEMS International, a consultancy engaged by the NRO to conduct this current review, delivered its report in early 2012. A public comment period closed on 6 April 2012. On 30 April 2012 the NRO submitted its considered response, formulated with the assistance of the ASO Address Council (ASO AC), to the 26 recommendations of the report and the one recommendation received during the ICANN public comment period. The Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC) advises that the public Comment Phase in the selection process to elect a representative to serve on Seat Number 9 of the ICANN Board, is extended to 23:59 (UTC) Thursday, 27 April 2012. Interview Phase is also extended and will now include the period during the Address Council's face-to-face meeting on 26-27 April, immediately following the ARIN XXIX Public Policy and Members Meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia.
