LACNIC 41 REPORT
The meeting took place in Panama City from May 6th to 10th with more then 800 attendees in person and around 400 remotely.
Meeting agenda was comprised of tutorials, LACNIC technical forum, members assembly, public policy forum, general informative sessions from LACNIC staff and a special session about Internet in Panamá. All the presentations and videos are available at the LACNIC website.
Related organizations, like LACTLD, LAC IXP, LACISP and LAC CSIRTs also held their meetings jointly with LACNIC.
Tutorials where about IPv6, secure routing, DNS and Internet resources management.
LACNIC General members assembly was also held and a new fee schema was approved and will be in place starting January 2025. This new fee schema allows LACNIC to increment registration fee based on the USA inflation in the previous year.
During the Public Policy Forum there where 7 proposals presented and discussed: - LAC-2023-3: Considerations for Declaring a Proposal Abandoned - LAC-2024-3: Use of the resources by third parties authorized by recipients - LAC-2024-1: Introducing Proposals to the PDP - LAC-2023-7: Temporary Transfers - LAC-2024-2: Appeals Procedure - LAC-2023-6: Special exception for global critical infrastructure providers - LAC-2023-4: Legacy Resources Management
Two policy proposals in discussion were regarding the usage of IPv4 addresses in a leasing like schema. And 3 other proposals were regarding the policy development process.
The ASO/AC report was presented with the usual information but also with emphasis in the ICP-2 review process. A timeline with important marks for community participation was included.
At the closing session the next LACNIC meeting was announced and it will take place in Asunción Paraguay from October 7th to 11th 2024.
