The event took place from October 11th to 15th in conjunction with the LACNOG2021, the LAC region network operators forum.
More than 800 members of the community participated in LACNIC’s first hybrid event, which provided for in-person participation in both Uruguay and Argentina as well as online attendees who joined the event from 30 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean.
There were more than 1000 people registered and about 200 people following the sessions each day.
During the first day, tutorials were covering IPv6 deployment as well as network interconnection and routing security.
For the opening section and interview with Vint Cerf was presented followed by the Policy Forum.
During the Policy Forum, 6 proposals were presented: - LAC-2018-13 Acceptable Usage Policy for the mailing list - LAC-2021-6 PDP change to enhance participation and proposals quality - LAC-2021-5 Update on End site and End user definitions - LAC-2021-4 Allowance for resource transfer and no need to return them - LAC-2019-7 and LAC-2020-9 both proposing Updates on Policy Chair selection process
LACNIC promoted a RPKI ROA Contest to award organization that create the highest percentage of ROAs during the event week.
There was the IPv6 Challenge that awarded organizations that showed a successful IPv6 implementation case.
LACNOG2021 had more than 15 presentations were given spreader over 1 and half day during the week.
The FIRST Symposium Conference was also held during one day of the event week.
During the event closure, LACNIC announced that next event, LACNIC 37, will be held in Cali Colombia, also in hybrid format, from May 2nd to 6th 2022.
