Dear all,
Thanks, I will arrive late today and I'm looking forward to seeing all who have the possibility to reach Belgrade in-person, and talking with our other colleagues remotely. I'm sure that we will have the opportunity to see ourselves quickly.
We will have tomorrow and Tuesday busy sessions, particularly regarding the operational procedures updates.
I will give a short introduction:
As recalled in the ASO AC Website (The Address Supporting Organization (ASO ICANN) | The Address Supporting Organizationhttps://aso.icann.org/), the operating procedures establish the governing procedures of the AC, knowing that this AC was established under the provisions of Section 3 of the ICANN Address Supporting Organization (ASO) Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). When using these procedures, the councilors have noticed that they are failing more and more:
* Questions around voting processes * In-person meetings impossibilities are not taken into account enough * Fix pointers to updated documents as the ASO MoU and ICANN bylaws * Cf. Kevin's last year proposal related to procedures section 6 (Global Policy Development) ...
The Council has decided to review these procedures (ASO AC Operating Procedures | The Address Supporting Organization (ASO ICANN)https://aso.icann.org/documents/operational-documents/operating-procedures-of-the-address-council-of-the-address-supporting-organization/). The global structure of the document won't change but each specific paragraph will be reviewed and a special voting section will be studied. Here are the identified topics (and their owners).
Monday morning: A - Officers (Chairs / Vice Chairs) Saul / Esteban B - Meetings Hervé / Esteban C - Global Policy Development Ricardo / Saul D - Procedures to appoint or remove members Tuesday morning: E - ICANN Board and Directors Selection Ricardo / Mike F - A specific voting process part (linked to § 7, 8, 9 and 11) Esteban / James
Suggestions will be proposed during this week F2F meeting, before consolidation and voting withing the ASO AC and then proposed to the NRO EC.
Feel free to comment.
Kind regards
Hervé
