Dear ASO AC I’m attaching minutes and open actions of last ASO AC Teleconference for your review. Open Actions New Action Item 211020-1: KB to update Section 6 of the ASO AC Operating Procedures (Global Policy Development), introducing any necessary editorial changes and fixing possible errors and circulate his draft to the list. New Action Item 211020-2: Each region to send to the Secretariat the name of their representative to the QRC soon so that the QRC can be formally constituted during the 3 November ASO AC meeting. LACNIC36 report

LACNIC 36 The event took place from October 11th to 15th in conjunction with the LACNOG2021, the LAC region network operators forum. More than 800 members of the community participated in LACNIC’s first hybrid event, which provided for in-person participation in both Uruguay and Argentina as well as online attendees who joined the event from 30 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean. There were more than 1000 people registered and about 200 people following the sessions each day. During the first day, tutorials were covering IPv6 deployment as well as network interconnection and routing security. For the opening section and interview with Vint Cerf was presented followed by the Policy Forum. During the Policy Forum, 6 proposals were presented: - LAC-2018-13 Acceptable Usage Policy for the mailing list - LAC-2021-6 PDP change to enhance participation and proposals quality - LAC-2021-5 Update on End site and End user definitions - LAC-2021-4 Allowance for resource transfer and no need to return them - LAC-2019-7 and LAC-2020-9 both proposing Updates on Policy Chair selection process LACNIC promoted a RPKI ROA Contest to award organization that create the highest percentage of ROAs during the event week. There was the IPv6 Challenge that awarded organizations that showed a successful IPv6 implementation case. LACNOG2021 had more than 15 presentations were given spreader over 1 and half day during the week. The FIRST Symposium Conference was also held during one day of the event week. During the event closure, LACNIC announced that next event, LACNIC 37, will be held in Cali Colombia, also in hybrid format, from May 2nd to 6th 2022. APNIC52 Policy Updates

Dear AC, Here is the summary of the policy update I shared yesterday from APNIC52. Following policies reached consensus at APNIC 52. - prop-135: Documentation - prop-136: Registration Requirements - prop-139: SOR not required - prop-140: Update End-Site Definition This policy reached community consensus at APNIC 52 but there was overwhelming support to make it a guideline rather than a policy. - prop-138: Restricting AS-ID in ROA This policy didn't reach community consensus. - prop-141: Change maximum delegation size of IPv4 address from 512 ( /23 ) to 768 (/23+/24) addresses This policy reached community consensus but due to some points beyond policy SIG jurisdictions were mentioned thats why EC sent this policy back to the author for clarification at APNIC 52 - prop-137: IPv6 assignment for associate members For consensus measurement, policy SIG chairs decided to use Zoom voting rather than Confer. Hi Everyone, Just wanted to share that during APNIC 52, the community elected Dr Di Ma for the ASO-AC position for 2 years starting from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2023. Dr Ma is the Principal Research Fellow of ZDNS, a company that provides Internet infrastructure services. He has been leading research activities related to DNSSEC and RPKI. Revised ICANN Board Seat 10 Election Timeline

Dear ASO AC Following discussion of the last ASO AC teleconference here is an updated timeline. By checking the ASO procedures the below changes are included * New nomination period ends on December 1st, as suggested in the teleconference * Comment phase ends at the same time that the Interview Phase (30 March 2022) * Interview phase has a maximum of 60 calendar days. I took as reference the ending day of the original proposal so it starts now on 29 January 2022 * As consequence of the change of the start of the interview phase the comment phase, as per procedure, should start 30 days before so now is scheduled for 30 December 2021. We have now a gap between the conclusion of the nomination phase and the start of the comment phase of almost a month (1 – 30 December), there is enough time to adjust outreach activities or prepare the interview phase. Nomination phase should be at least 60 calendar days so can be extended as much as we want, if you decide to do so. – Nomination Phase: Wed 15 September 2021 – Wed 1 December 2021 – Comment Phase: Thu 30 December 2021 – Wed 30 March 2022 ICANN Due Diligence for nominated candidates: – Interview Phase: Sat 29 January 2022 – Wed 30 March 2022 – Selection Phase (deliberation): Friday 1 April – Sat 16 April 2022 – Selection Phase (voting): Tue 19 – Mon 25 April 2022 – Announcement of selected candidate: around Sat 30 April 2022 Another important aspect to have in mind, Easter festivities in 2022 starts with Good Friday on 15 April. Depending on people cultural backgrounds and customs we could have members on holidays on the week before during the deliberation period and when the ASO AC must meet to review the accumulated documentation of each candidate or during the week after which coincides with the voting phase. IN any case any member affected should plan accordingly or changes in the timeline should be adopted now before publication.
